چکیده

Bisphenol A (BPA) has shown an ability to disrupt endocrine signaling in some human and animal model studies, raising suspicions that it may be a factor in the development of endocrine-related disorders, including breast cancer. Animal studies appear to support that suspicion, but the precise molecular mechanisms by which BPA exposure may lead to cancer in humans are poorly understood.2,3 Previous studies have connected BPA exposure to molecular events in breast cells that are characteristic of cancer development. A new study reported in this issue of EHP implicates a gene further upstream of previously demonstrated mechanisms. BPA is used in a wide variety of products, including polycarbonate plastics, food and beverage containers, and coated papers (e.g., thermal

Key Regulatory Gene Expression in Erythroleukemia Differentiation

The characteristics of cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with cell proliferation and differentiation is important to understand malignancy. In this report we characterise a leukemic model, D5A1, to study the action of differentiation agent, cellular events and gene expression of the selected transcription factors. Cells induced with 4 mM hexamethylene bisacetamide (HMBA) caused signs...

Investigating the inhibitory effect of miR-34a, miR-449a, miR-1827, and miR-106b on target genes including NOTCH1, c-Myc, and CCND1 in human T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia clinical samples and cell line

Objective(s): microRNAs are small non-coding molecules that regulate gene expression in various biological processes. T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a malignancy accompanied with genetic aberrations and accounts for 20% of children’s and adult’s ALL. Notch signaling pathway dysregulation occurs in 60% of T-ALL cases. In the present study, we aimed to de...

O-37: Pseudomalignant Nature of Placenta during Normal and Pathological Gestation Is Regulated by Epigenetic Mechanisms which Can be Exploited To Design Non-Invasive Fetal Dna Markers

Background Placentation shares many analogues with the development of tumors such as rapid proliferation, invasiveness, gene expression profiles especially the expression of tumor suppressor genes, oncogenes and matrixmetallo proteinases (MMPs). Thus, a placenta has been described as a pseudomalignant tissue. However, placentation is tightly regulated and any deregulation of this pseudomalignan...

Evaluation of c-Myc mRNA Expression Level in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and Prostatic Adenocarcinoma Tissues and Its Correlation with Clinicopathological Characteristics

Background and Aims: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common cancers among men in Iran. Since changes in the regulation of proto-oncogenes expression are the main causes of most human cancers, including PCa, evaluating the expression of marker genes can be helpful for early diagnosis of cancer and better understanding of its etiology. The present study compared c-Myc expression level in...

P173: LPS Preconditioning Declines Oncogenic Factors and Inflammatory Responses in PC12 Cells

The release of molecules from injured tissue leads to produce inflammatory response that can result in apoptosis and cell death. Preconditioning (PC) can decrease the inflammatory response, increase neuroprotective mechanism on different levels. So, we investigated the role of PC as a suitable preventative approach in neurodegenerative disease in and inflammatory oncogenic factors in PC12 cells...
